Being a seed producer firstly involves creating new higher-performing varieties from existing genetic diversity. The seeds from these varieties must then be produced, processed (cleaning, packing etc.) to ensure the optimum quality. Westyard excels at all these activities, for forage grasses, cover crops, nitrofixing crops and turf grasses.

Forage grasses

Westyard has access to a high performing portfolio of forage grass varieties with proven excellent results on various variety lists throughout our sales territories enabling the end users to have confidence in our products.

Cover Crops

Our cover crop range is composed of the best varieties of oil seed radish, white mustard, phacelia and other products. As soil is the most valuable component for the farmer, it is important to keep it healthy and our products can play a major role in this process.

Nitrogen Fixation crops

Nitrogen is an extremely hot topic these days, and is one of the most important nutrients for crop growth. Choosing a nitrogen fixing crop that adds N to your soils is a relatively easy, inexpensive and environmentally friendly means of incorporating this key nutrient to your farming system.

Turf grasses

In addition to fodder grasses, we also produce many different species of grass varieties for amenity, sports and domestic lawns.

Other species

Due to to our wide knowledge and experience in the world of grass and other seeds, it is a small step to apply our expertise to other species. For example, Westyard has also been producing alfalfa (lucerne)and cereals (wheat and malting barley) for several years.
